Insulation for Homeowners

You can’t put a price on comfort. A cozy nest gives you the resources you need to face the world, and insulation contributes by keeping the elements out. It’s a low-cost power saver that creates a stable indoor climate. As a family-owned business, NorthEast Spray Insulation understands the importance of a home that feels “just right.”

Signs That You Need More Insulation

  • Your energy bills are high.
  • Your temperature variations from room to room are extreme.
  • Your floors and walls are cold to the touch.
  • Vermin are finding their way into your home.
  • Your attic is showing signs of leakage.

Insulation We Install

Insulation’s effects are expressed through R-value, which tells you its thermal resistance. It can rise to as much as R-49 in ceilings, but indoor areas need a fraction of that. Other important features are density and the capacity to conform to tight places. If your insulation can’t fill tiny corners and cracks, it leaves room for the elements to break through. We specialize in three forms of insulation:

Cellulose

Blown-in cellulose settles into cracks and corners well, so it’s perfect for hard-to-reach places. It can be placed over existing installation and doesn’t require an expensive removal process. It’s one of the only materials that can be injected into finished walls and has an R-value of about 3.5 per inch.

Spray Foam

Closed-cell spray foam can rise to an R-value of R-6.5 an inch, while open-cell products offer R-3.7. It’s a favorite among specialists for its ability to conform to complex shapes and narrow spaces.

Mineral Fiber

Mineral fiber achieves an R-value of 4.2 an inch. It’s naturally resistant to mold and fungi, so it’s the perfect material for basements and ceilings. It’s economical, yet dense enough to achieve a stable indoor climate.

Areas of the Home That Can Benefit from Insulation

  • Insulation’s moisture deterrence can lengthen the life of your vents.
  • Use it as soundproofing in your walls and ceiling.
  • Reduce rot by insulating your basement.
  • Insulating your attic and crawl spaces can save you 11% on heating and cooling costs. That amounts to $200 in annual expenses.
  • Insulate your pipes to prevent them from freezing in the winter.
  • Insulation can help your water heater to retain heat.
